The famous and iconic Fluorite specimens from Múzquiz are some of the most recognizable Fluorites from any Mexican locality. This beautiful small cabinet features sub-parallel cubic crystals of Fluorite with a beautiful purple hue on the exterior faces are overgrowing a translucent and nearly colorless "core" of Fluorite underneath. The Fluorite crystals have stepped-growth faces accented by darker purple edge "phantoms". A thin overgrowth of pale golden Calcite can be seen on several sides of the piece. Very little damage, but a few small contacts can be seen. When backlit, the piece looks beautiful. A classic style of Fluorite from this noted Mexican locale. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
