Item Description

This Fluorite stone was one of the first gems that Brett Kosnar cut when he was about 20 years old. The stone was a surprise gift to Brett's father, Richard Kosnar about 4 years ago. The rough for this stone was mined by Richard Kosnar on August 10, 1977 at his Amazonite claim on what has become known as "Yucca Hill". The winner of this gem will receive Rich Kosnar's hand-written label which mentions the date collected and the size of the original piece of rough. The stone itself has some slight inclusions, like most Fluorites from this area, but the most attractive aspect of this stone is the fact that it has a very pale PINK color, which is very uncommon for Fluorite worldwide. The stone has a modified "Portuguese Round" cut, and for the size, is a rather impressive gem from this famous pegmatite district. The pedigree alone to me makes this a worthwhile gem, but combine that with the fact that this stone is nearly 30 carats, and has a hard to find color, you won't find many gems like this on the market today. Valued at $427.50 high retail.
