Fluorite coating Quartz (RARE for the locality)

This is the only piece of its kind that we've seen from the Peregrina Mine in Guanajuato, Mexico. Kurt's catalogue lists the piece as Fluorite with Quartz, and I'm inclined to believe it, as it certainly looks legit. This small cabinet specimen features a rarely seen sphere of Quartz which has been coated by pastel lilac colored Fluorite cubes, along with additional Fluorites scattered on the Quartz matrix, creating a very pleasing and showy display piece. When you turn the piece around, you can see the white interior of the preexisting Quartz "ball". No damage on the front/display side. Very eye-catching with great composition and displayability. It's difficult to put a fair market value on a piece like this as I've never seen one like it, so if you collect Mexican minerals, don't miss out on this one.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#105 Mx), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
