Item Description

A classic Freiberg Fluorite specimen, but with a bit of twist. The piece features the well-known golden cubic crystals - which measure up to 3.3 cm on edge - but they have a gentle coating of white drusy Quartz which can be seen on both the front and back of the piece. The final touch is a handful of white spherical "balls" of Barite measuring up to 7 mm across. Overall the piece is in good condition, but you can see there are a couple contacts on the corners of the Fluorites on the front side. When backlit, the piece shows a wonderful golden color. Beautiful old classic material from Freiberg and a must-have for any Fluorite collector since it's just a bit different than most pieces from this locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7987). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
