The Fluorites from Southern Illinois are regarded among the most beautiful and colorful examples of the species ever found. This entire area is closed down, so no more mining will take place, and we will never see these amazing specimens again. This piece is a classic cubic crystal from the famed Denton Mine and features multiple "phantom" color zones with a blue hue on the outer edge (best seen in sunlight) with a rich purple zone underneath, and a gorgeous golden yellow "core". The faces of the crystal are glassy and razor-sharp. The edges are a bit rough, so the piece is not 100% pristine, but the overall quality, color and gemminess make this a desirable representation of these now hard to find pieces.
