Item Description
These Grant County octahedrons of dark purple Fluorite have become more and more scarce over the years; there was a time when it was not hard to find one on the market, but they are just not around anymore. This one came out of the Judith Lynn Mine. Its crystals measure to 2.5 cm on edge. It has an almost "blistered" appearance on the surface of the crytals, and shows beautiful color zoning with a small amount of green Fluorite on the underside of the piece. Some of the crystals show intense reddish-purple hues with backlit. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
