Item Description
A classic from what might be the most well-known locality in Los Angeles County. This showy cabinet sized display specimen featuring multiple, gemmy, green color Fluorite crystal groups sitting on minor matrix. You can see each crystal group is loaded with dozens of faces, which are arranged into an octahedral form, the largest of which measure 5.7 cm across. Great quality and no real damage to speak of, save the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. The color is a saturated, STRONG green, especially for the size, and these piece are really difficult to obtain on the market these days. I would put a value of about $1,500 retail. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
