Item Description

A classic from what might be the most well-known locality in Los Angeles County. A very gemmy, classic green color Fluorite crystal group free of matrix. The surface is loaded with dozens of tiny faces, which are arranged into an octahedral form. Great quality and no real damage to speak of, save the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. The color is a saturated, STRONG green, especially for the size, and these piece are really difficult to obtain on the market these days. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
