Item Description

The Weardale (Stanhope) area in northern England has produced what are some of the finest and most well-known Fluorite specimens in the world. This piece is a showy and aesthetic display piece featuring a sharp, well-formed, translucent purple cube of Fluorite measuring 4.2 cm, beautifully perched atop a matrix consisting of an incomplete green Fluorite crystal (you can see the color on the back of the piece), with minor associated Quartz and Galena. The main Fluorite crystal actually has a smaller compressed cube flaring out of the front (possibly a twin?) for a nice touch. The back of the main Fluorite is not 100% complete, but it's not broken either, as I can see it's very slightly re-crystallized ("re-healed") when I looked at it with a loupe. A wonderful and showy example of this old classic material. Valued at $1,000.
