Item Description

A wonderful cabinet sized display specimen from the Beihilfe Mine in the in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) of Germany. This piece features dozens of fine quality, rich golden-yellow colored cubic crystals of Fluorite with good, sharp, defined faces along with excellent luster and fine internal gemminess measuring up to 1.0 cm on edge, associated with tiny brassy metallic crystals of Chalcopyrite along with some small bi-colored (white and golden) prismatic crystals of Baryte. The front/display side of the piece is in superb condition, with only a few small imperfections I can find. The reverse side of the specimen features additional Fluorites of a slightly lighter golden hue. Fine quality and highly desirable. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#397 D), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
