Item Description
An impressive large partial fluorite cube from this less well-known Weardale area lead mine, that was active from 1850-1884. The bi-colored crystal has a beautiful gemmy/translucent lavender corner with classic edge phantoms along with part of the upper face and the adjacent edge. The rest of the moderately lustrous crystal is mottled opaque lavender and brown. Recently, a group of collector/dealers have rehabilitated a shaft accessing the mine and have recovered some large crystals of deep purple, and amber/purple zoned, fluorite (MINDAT). Excellent material from the recent finds at this classic locale. BRIGHT purple fluorescence!
