Fluorite (classic locale)

Item Description

Multiple fluorite generations and colors on this impressive large triangular specimen of solid fluorite from this well-known French locale - the La Barre Mine. The left side of the undulating piece is covered with sparkly, druzy, two-toned fluorite accented with scattered, gem, light green cubes, to 8 mm. Some of the cubes and druzy fluorite have yellow interiors. The right side is dramatically and richly festooned with larger, gem, light green to colorless fluorite cubes, 7 mm, many with yellow interiors. The back side attachment is decidedly different. Here we have lustrous, translucent, rich emerald-green to teal-green fluorite. Rich purple LW UV fluorescence. This ancient fluorite mine operated from 1918 until 1948 and the adits were closed in 2000 (MINDAT). Ex Paul Zerfass Collection No. 101.
