Item Description
Blocky, intergrown fluorite cubes form a sculptural large specimen from the famous Blackdene Mine. These are classics of British mineral collecting and of mineralogy itself, as their very name lent itself to the word FLUORESCENCE! The pretty light purple translucent cubes have satin luster faces and are nicely accented with a few tiny brassy pyrite crystals. The impressive, large upright edge cube is 4.2 x 3.4 x 2.7 cm. Green fluorite on the back is a typical accessory. The noted periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction. Bright purple fluorescence, as you would expect. Excellent and classic large fluorite from this famous old first lead, then fluorite mine, that closed in 1987. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 09548CL and acquired in 1998.
