Fluorite (classic LA urban locale)

Item Description

RARE and richly crystallized USA fluorite, featuring an impressive intergrown cluster of octahedral crystals on matrix. This excellent small cabinet is from the well-known Felix Mine of urban Los Angeles. The translucent, lustrous, densely stepped-growth octos have a beautiful green color and are highlighted by the dominating large crystal at 3.7 cm. In great shape, overall. A small contact below the tip of the large octo has negligible bruising. Contacting on the right side of the large octo and some contacting and bruising to smaller crystals at the base are noted, but have minimal impact to the overall high quality of this matrix specimen. This is overall a beautiful, large, and fine specimen from this small artisnal mine worked by the Gochenour brothers mostly in the 1990s and now lost under the urban sprawl of LA. The octos have a beautiful green GLOW, when backlit. Purple fluorescence. A very fine and rich matrix small cabinet from the noted locale. Valued $1200-1500.
