Fluorite, Chalcopyrite, and Quartz - old locale

Item Description

A classic and complex combination piece, from what was once called Schlaggenwald, in Bohemia, the modern Czech Republic. The deep purple, zoned Fluorites are lustrous, with gemmy, purple cores and glassy, clear outer zones. The Fluorites and the Chalcopyrites range up to several mm in size, and they are generously distibuted around the piece as they nestle among the Quartz crystals. The Quartz crystals range up to 2.7 cm and, considering the significant age of the specimen, it is not a surprise that a few of the Quartz terminations are missing, but most are intact. These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired.
