Item Description

China has produced a good amount of gem / lapidary grade Fluorite over the past 20+ years, but most of it just ends up being polished into wands and spheres, and isn't utilized to its full potential. Here we have a fantastic large cabinet specimen of solid gemmy green Fluorite from Hunan which has been skillfully hand-carved into a scene featuring a pair of lizards coming face to face. The detail of the piece is excellent when you view it up close, as you can see the little scales on the body of the lizards along with their individual "fingers" and well-sculpted facial features. I'm not a reptile expert, but if I had to guess, these lizards look like anoles to me, mostly due to the ridge running down their backs. The piece weighs an impressive 353 grams and it is polished on all sides, allowing the light to come through that rich apple green Fluorite with ease. One rarely sees such eye-catching pieces (especially large cabinet sized specimens like this) of carved Fluorite on the market with notably fine detail and a whimsical scene like this. If you collect carvings or worldwide Fluorites, this is a superb one-of-a-kind piece that would make a fine addition to your collection. Priced at $3,530.00 in our inventory.
