Item Description

A choice locality piece AND a beautiful specimen at the same time, this is a rare and amazing small cabinet combination specimen of stepped growth fluorite crystals from the famous San Martin Mine of Zacatecas. Striking intergrown clusters of glassy, gem, lavender with some color-zoned purple cubes crown the crest and one side of the sculptural piece. The large, protruding color-zoned cube on the right side is 4 mm. The fluorite crystals on the right side and along the top of the piece are preferentially coated with RARE microcrystalline Pyrite. Contrasting protruding stacks of glassy, translucent, colorless, flattened nailhead Calcite rhombohedrons are fine complements and typical accessories. Purple LW UV fluorite and orange calcite fluorescence. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces. The mine opened in the 1940s and was shut down by a strike in 2008. RARE, rich and aesthetic combination from the well-known locale.
