Fluorite, Calcite, & Hydrozincite (rare USA Locale ex Lemanski Coll.)

Item Description

A showy large and RARE combination specimen from this railroad cut made in the late 1950s. The well-placed vein above schist matrix hosts bi-colored stepped fluorite cuboctahedrons with purple cores and deep green outer areas (purple fluorescence). The vein also hosts calcite (pink and red fluorescence) and RARE crusts of Hydrozincite, that fluoresce white. Some damage to fluorite, but still a good specimen. A popular collecting site for decades, the cut is now off limits per the Army Corps of Engineers. A former Taldino Testone Collection specimen collected by him. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1991 from Dick Hauck (all according to Lemanski catalog, though labels are not present). An excellent large combination rarity from the locale, and important for where it is from rather than its display quality (although it is also good for what it is).
