Item Description

This specimen of classic Russian fluorite is accompanied by white calcite, all perched on a matrix of crystallized sphalerite. The fluorite is not etched, but strangely curved or fluid-looking, with unusual surface patterns you sometimes see form this mine (maybe more obvious in video). They are colorless crystals to just under 2 cm. This is a classic combination piece from the 2nd Sovetskii mine, probably from production after 2005. This display quality cabinet piece is donated by Steve Maslansky to support the Mineralogical Record.
