Fluorite (bi-colored crystals) with Quartz

Item Description

A lovely specimen of Fluorite from the famous Shangbao Mine in China featuring attractive bi-colored crystals measuring up to 2.2 cm, which show gorgeous green and purple zoning. They are quite gemmy when backlit, and you can see directly into the center, as many of them are virtually water clear! The Fluorites on one side of the piece have a very reflective glassy luster, while the other side has a bit more of a matte luster. The crystals are predominantly cubic in habit, but they show wonderful dodecahedral faces on the edges. They are sitting on a matrix of very lustrous white Quartz prisms. There is no major damage, but there are some small nicks in spots, so the piece is not 100% damage free. This is older material, dating back to the early 2000s, and these specimens will go down as classics, and certainly some of the most iconic Fluorites from any mine in China.
