Item Description

A gorgeous, showy and fine quality associations specimen from Erongo featuring richly colored green and purple Fluorite cubes measuring up to 2.0 cm on edge, associated with striated, jet-black prisms of Schorl up to 2.5 cm long, sitting on a matrix of cream colored Microcline with dark Smoky Quartz crystals all over. There is even a little gemmy, pale blue prismatic crystal of what I believe to be Fluorapatite as well! The piece is in great shape, with only a few bruises that I can see with the naked eye. It's not common to find all of these species together on the same specimen, especially in such fine quality and deep colors. This is older material from Erongo, dating back to the mid 2000s, and would make a fine addition to any pegmatite suite, a collection of Erongo minerals, or worldwide Fluorites. Valued $1,800.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#2 N), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
