Item Description

This is a gorgeous small cabinet sized display specimen from the prolific famous Okorusu Mine in Namibia. This impressive locality is one of the premier Fluorite producing spots in the world. For many years, Okorusu has been the source of some incredibly fine quality multicolor Fluorite specimens. I can honestly say that have literally seen Fluorite specimens in every color of the rainbow from this mine (including black and colorless) This piece is from a discovery many years ago and features a group of very sharp, well-formed VERY gemmy, cubic crystals measuring up to 2.2 cm on edge which show a unique mixture of golden, reddish-purple and colorless zones throughout. The color really comes though when the piece is backlit. The back of the specimen has a saw mark, but it shows a unique "core" that almost reminds one of some kind of banded Agate. This particular style was very limited and quite scarce on the market today. Fine quality and such a fantastic mix of color! Valued at $2,000 in the inventory. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#67 N), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
