Item Description
A razor sharp cube of fluorite, 3 x 3 x 2.5 cm, shows off the combination of colors, layers, and phantoms that makes the Yaogangxian Mine so famous among mineral collectors, all over the world. The arsenopyrite crystals, to an inch, are stunning, sharp, metallic and bright - and this association elevates the piece to another level by its contrast and color. It is so nicely balanced. The left side has a small crystal of boulangerite-coated bournonite, with sharp little pyramidal chalcopyrite crystals growing on top, for a total of 5 species here. This is likely an older piece, as the matrix association on arsenopyrite is so rare today. Valued $1200-1500.
