Item Description

Hardin County in southern Illinois is famous for producing some of the world's best Fluorite specimens, known for their outstanding zoning, colored cores, and cubic form. This small cabinet specimen brings a touch of each of these characteristics to the table. The largest Fluorite is 1.4 cm, and looking closely you can appreciate the colored cores and sharp phantoms. The Fluorites have cinnamon-colored Sphalerites scattered around them on the matrix, which add a nice contrast, and the luster on the crystals is good. Excellent blue fluorescence, of course. From the Annabel Lee Mine (named after the Edgar Allan Poe poem, by the way), this is a good, representative piece for the mine and for the district, and as time passes, these are getting harder to find.
