Item Description

A really cool association specimen from the famous Sunnyside Mine. Arguably the most desirable combination from this mine is to have Rhodochrosite with green Fluorite on matrix. This piece features both green Fluorite with pink Rhodochrosite together. The Fluorites are gemmy octahedra measuring up to 1.8 cm across, with a very few pale pink Rhodochrosite rhombs on a layer of sparkling Quartz on matrix. A attractive and highly sought after combo from this historic and important San Juan locality in Colorado. Priced at $700 in the inventory. From the collection of Gary Weaver (1944-2019), an electrical engineer who worked for Hughes Aircraft in California. After retiring to Prescott, Arizona in the early 2000s, Gary rekindled his childhood love of minerals, amassing a collection of roughly 2000 specimens, focusing on localities in which he and his wife had lived or visited (Mexico, Peru and the western / southwestern United States).
