Fluorite and Quartz on Sphalerite

Item Description

A large, two-toned, pink and green Fluorite octahedron sits nicely atop some mounded up Fluorite crystals accented by sprays of stubby, milky Quartz crystals, some of which are sceptered, on this cabinet piece from Dalnegorsk, Russia. The large Fluorite is etched as are all the others on the piece, and it measures 4.2 cm across from point to point and has two smaller, 2 cm companions that are all stacked on a mound of numerous Fluorites of similar character and they in turn cover a matrix of almost black Sphalerite and milky Quartz. The latest generation of Quartz that is growing on the Fluorite is composed of 1 to 1.7 cm, milky colored, lustrous Quartz crystals, most of which display well developed scepters. The bottom of the piece is contacted and shows the coarse salt and pepper texture of the Quartz and Sphalerite. Classic 1990s material from early exports.
