Fluorite and Opal-AN on Albite (all fluorescent)

Erongo Fluorites are known and desired by collectors everywhere. This excellent, cabinet-sized combination piece is a prime example, and an exceptionally unusual one, at that. Cubic in form, the Fluorites (up to 1.9 cm) have Erongo's classic, apple-green color adorned with curved, purple coloration along each of the edges. Some of the corners among the crystals have the oft-seen octahedral (bevel) modification. What is quite unusual about these Fluorites is that they actually have an outer, clear, and gemmy layer that grew on top of the previous outer layer. Usually, the purple helps define the outer edges, but that is not the case here. This attractive and unexpected layer is well out of the ordinary, increasing the size of the Fluorites encasing the coloration at the same time. All the Fluorites are on a large, single, partially-etched Albite crystal, where they create a nice, balanced presentation.. And until you put this under a UV light, you don't realize the preponderance of Hyalite Opal that exists on the specimen. While though the Fluorites are not super-sharp, the overall aesthetics and interest are high, with the AMAZING fluorescence making this Erongo combination piece even more special. There have been many fine Erongo specimens, and I rate this highly for its form, interest, and extraordinary characteristics. A classic of old Erongo styles, and a large display sized example!
