Fluorite and Chalcopyrite

Attractive and interesting Fluorite/sulfide combinations are well-known from Spain's Emilio Mine, with this small-cabinet piece featuring a layer of diminutive, gemmy Fluorite cubes coated by drusy Chalcopyrite. One common and desired feature of the Chalcopyrite is its iridescence, which in this case is rich in soft blue-greens and gold. In dramatic fashion, there are several larger Fluorites marching across the surface. Their size, up to 7 mm on edge, not only helps them stand out, but allows you to fully appreciate just how water-clear these light purple Fluorites are. Look a little closer, and you can see complex modifications and beveling along the corners and edges. Simple yet surprisingly rich in attributes, this is a quality, aesthetic specimen. Note the small size of the fluorite...but it is literally a jewel!
