Fluorite - Alien Eye 2007 pocket

The aptly named 'Alien Eye' Fluorites from Namibia became instant classics when found in the early 2000s and remain among the most sought after of all fluorites to this day. They we snapped up very quickly, as you might imagine. This has been in the Erika Pohl collection since it was found. This excellent miniature has several things going for it: size, balance, quality, clarity, and depth of contrast. Along with being a very convenient and accessible size, the crystals are well-formed and balanced for the size overall. They are saturated in color, and also lustrous (not all, were so lustrous). The zoning is sharp and SUPERB, with the tabular habit allowing for the piece to easily glow with just a minimal amount of backlighting. An otherworldly, royal-blue fluorescence adds even more 'eeriness' to the piece. We (and you) are very fortunate that Dr. Pohl was able to assemble a significant sub-collection of these, where she bought a group of them in different sizes and cluster shapes for variety at the time they came out. This is so unusual, and simply so good! These specimens have taken their place as one of the 'Holy Grails' of Fluorites but also of all worldwide mineral finds!
