Item Description
Gemmy olive-green fluorite cubes, to 2.7 cm, richly and attractively cover the undulating sculptural large plate of solid fluorite from this well-known extinct French fluorite mine. The prominent sharp raised cube is 2.5 x 2.4 cm. Most of the cubes have subtle edge phantoms, adding character. Cube faces are glass-clear to satin lustre or frosted. The Fontsante Mine produced Provence's finest fluorite specimens (MINDAT) in a wide variety of colors and forms. See the 1977 Mineralogical Record Europe Special Issue, Vol. 8, No. 4. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1997. A very fine large and rich example of the varietal from the locale. Purple fluorescence.
