Item Description

Grant County Fluorites are known for their octahedral form and distinctive 'scalloped' texture on their crystal faces. This plate is rich in crystals, with the largest being about 2.4 cm on edge. The crystals have deep purple cores and gemmy, lavendar outer zones. This piece is significant for size and condition, especially when you consider these are mined out of very narrow Quartz seams within the host granite. For a good example of a Grant Count Fluorite, see the cover of the Mineralogical Record, Vol. 20, #1.
