Item Description
Luscious, rich grape-purple, translucent fluorite cubes form a striking and showy plate from this obscure Southern Illinois fluorite mine. The cubes reach 2.6 cm and have lustrous, matte faces. The cubes really GLOW, when backlit. Broken crystals on one corner are noted, but this remains a fine example of the species and locale. Specimens from this mine are RARE. Very modest purple fluorescence. Ex Robert Fender Collection and dates to the 1960s or 70s.
