Item Description

This long storied historic U.S. locality has produced some of the world's finest Calcite and Fluorite specimens extant. Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. The classic purple Fluorites are a favorite among collectors, and it's easy to see why. This piece is a sharp, translucent, beautiful purple color, semi-"phantom" cubic crystal of Fluorite. A good representative display specimen of this well knonw material. The cube is actually slightly yellow on the corner which is not common for the material, and is a nice touch. This piece is close to 30 years old, and is a worthwhile reference piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body!
