Item Description
Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, they are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. The classic purple Fluorites are a favorite among collectors, and it's easy to see why. This piece features a few sharp, GEM/gemmy, beautiful purple color, "phantom" cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 3.6 cm on edge sitting on a small amount of Sphalerite matrix. A classic example of an Elmwood Fluorite. There a few rough edges on some of the Fluorites, but it is still a good representative display specimen of this well knonw material. The cubes are actually slightly yellow in the center, which is a nice touch. This piece is close to 30 years old, and is a worthwhile display piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body!
