Fluorite (2 generations) with Pyrite & Sphalerite

Stunning rich emerald-green color on these striking, modified fluorite octahedrons from recent finds at the Atacocha Mine of Peru. The glassy, lustrous, densely stepped-growth crystals have a scattered, secondary overgrowth of white fluorite, that resembles snow and scattered, tiny, complex Sphalerite crystals are a super complement. The large, upright octahedron at the top is 3.6 cm tall and the large crystal on the right edge is 4.3 cm across on the diagonal. Patches of brilliant, metallic, striated Pyrite crystals on the edges add dramatic contrast. The underlying matrix is granular Pyrite. The back lit photo highlights the rich emerald-green hue of the fluorites. Bruising to crystals on the lower left is noted, but is really only a modest detraction. The bruising reveals the gorgeous gemminess of these crystals. Purple LW UV fluorescence. Rich, sculptural, very showy and highly representative fluorite combination from the finds. Valued $3-5k for size and richness and overall color impact.
