Item Description
Lustrous and translucent green fluorite cubes with pretty subtle of purple edge phantoms are densely intergrown on the mounded matrix on this rich and showy large specimen from this well-known extinct fluorite mine. The green color is classic for the locale. The cubes, to 2.0 cm, are preferentially peppered with a secondary overgrowth of tiny sparkly, hematite-included fluorite cubes, adding color and pizzazz. A very fine and aesthetic combination. Purple fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3117 and acquired in the 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). The pristine piece displays well without aid.
