Item Description
The remarkable Naica Mine in northern Mexico is a world famous locality, and despite the various mineral species found there, it is probably best known as the home of the famous "Cave of Swords", which is a giant series of the most exemplary Gypsum crystals ever found. With that said, some of the most beautiful examples of Fluorite from any Mexican locality have been coming out of this mine for many years. This lovely small cabinet sized specimen features a good quality, soft silvery-lilac colored crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.3 cm sitting atop a previous generation of vibrant green Fluorite underneath, along with minor sulfides. The Fluorites on the top of the piece show a lovely combination of cubic, octahedral and dodecahedral faces. The piece is in great shape on the display side, and while there is no true damage, there are some separation marks on the bottom of the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. This one was difficult to photograph, but it's very attractive in person and would make a fine addition to any Fluorite suite or a collection of minerals from Naica. We had this piece valued in the inventory at $1,500 for the overall quality and displayability of the piece.
