Fluorite

A wonderful "hand-sized" showy display specimen of Fluorite featuring large (up to 4.9 cm on edge), sharp, lustrous cubes that range from a muted golden color to virtually colorless on the edges/corners, which are associated with little silvery Calcite crystals on the lower edge along with some brown Siderite crystals on the front face of the larger Fluorite. The piece is labeled only as coming from England, and it's hard to say specifically which mine it's from, though I could guess somewhere in County Durham, but I've seen pieces from Cumbria that are somewhat similar, so I will leave it to our group of UK Fluorite experts to chime in on where they think it could be from, please feel free to reach out and let us know. From the collection of Richard ("Dick") Philip Hauck formerly of Bloomfield, New Jersey and now a resident of Franklin, New Jersey. Dick is an avid collector of minerals, books, and mining memorabilia, along with being an accomplished author in the mineral world. Arguably, his greatest claim to fame is being the co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. Dick purchased the land on which the Sterling Hill Mine resides in 1988, and the museum has been running strong since.
