Unusual fluorite specimens are fun to collect, beautiful, and interesting. We were fortunate that the Pohl collection preserves some of the rare fluorite finds from Morocco, which seldom came to the USA market. Here is a trio of colorful and tightly intergrown lustrous, transparent to translucent, blue and purple Fluorite octahedrons from Timahdit, Morocco. Although it is a more obscure Moroccan Fluorite occurrence, it has produced a variety of colors and forms of Fluorite, mostly as sharp octahedrons. This attractive piece features a trio of intergrown Fluorite octahedrons to 1.8 to 3 cm on edge (over an inch), accompanied by a a few smaller Fluorite octahedrons that rest on a tan, granular matrix. The color and zoning on these crystals is simply impressive with a beautiful medium blue body embellished with distinctly rich purple corners that trail down the edges slightly. Octahedral crystals, especially of this color combination, are rare from Timahdit. The crystals are sharply formed and in excellent condition, even though it has only been cleaned with water and no fancy lab treatments. This locality has produced some unusual and very showy Fluorite specimens and this piece certainly qualifies! From the treasured Morocco suite of the Pohl collection.
