Fluorite

Item Description

This is just a wild and beautiful multi-zoned Fluorite from the Chinese Province of Zhejiang (the exact mine locality is as yet unclear). The initial fluorite growth appears to be clear or "pure". That is followed by white and lavender growths in well-defined internal square/cubic "phantom" lines. There is a light etching on the final face with preferential micro-fluorite crystals growing out of some faces forming a druzy coating. The cubes (to just under 4 cm) are in great condition and display unique translucent to transparent qualities depending on the cube's face. This appears to correlate with the internal white zoning. In other words, if a white phantom or zone is present you can not see into the crystal from that direction. If a white phantom is not present, the cubes are transparent. Highly unusual and just plain magical! It fluoresces a dark purple. The base has been sawn for better display. This is from an unknown location in Zhejiang, China. At this time I haven't seen any additional specimens quite like this quality of the style, and I don't know if there ever will be.
