Fluorite

Item Description

Panasqueira is best known for its distinctive Apatites, Ferberites and associated minerals, but Fluorites are not terribly common, especially in fine pieces like this. This large miniature / small cabinet specimen hosts an attractive, sharp, well-formed, gemmy, cubic crystal of Fluorite measuring 2.0 cm on edge, sitting atop a matrix covered by Muscovite along with little Quartz prisms. The Fluorite shows a distinct purple and green bi-color hue, and I love how it's wonderfully isolated in the center of the specimen. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
