Item Description

You don't see a lot of Fluorite specimens from the Homestake-Jack Pot Mine on the market, especially these days, as nothing has come out in many years. Here we have an attractive small cabinet display specimen with attractive, gemmy, octahedral crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 3.0 cm across on very minor white Quartz matrix. No major damage. It should be noted that while the Fluorite crystals are octahedral in shape, they actually have many tiny modifying faces sprinkled all over. A really cool specimen of these hard to find specimens from this old gold mine in northwestern Arizona (near the Nevada Border). From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired from mining, but spent many years underground, including as the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures"
