Item Description

A hard to find representation of Fluorite from the Bäuerin Mine in Saxony featuring many sharp, lustrous, well-formed, soft golden-yellow colored cubic crystals measuring up to 1.4 cm on edge on matrix. Nearly all of the Fluorites are undamaged, though the piece is contacted around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. If you look closely, many of the smaller central Fluorites are quite glassy and nearly transparent, and when they are backlit, they show attractive internal "phantoms" with reddish and purplish hues. Additionally, if you look on the back, you'll see the crystals formed on a layer of white Quartz, which is sitting atop an additional layer of massive gemmy green Fluorite. A really top-notch example of this seldom-seen material, and a must have for any Fluorite fan, as these pieces are virtually unseen in today's market, especially in this quality. Valued at $950-$1,200. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#376 D), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
