Fluorapophyllite & Stilbite (Panczner Coll.)

Item Description

A beautiful and aesthetic small cabinet apophyllite and stilbite combination from Jalgaon. An imposing pristine doubly terminated tetragonal apophyllite with striking sharp pyramidal terminations is very artistically accented with a cluster of pearlescent, laminated, tinted light salmon-pink stilbite blades on one side. Supremely glassy limpid colorless terminations encase the striated, highly lustrous, translucent light green body. This elegant 360-degree piece is nearly a floater. Small white chalcedony stalactites with filled tubes are the attachment points. Ex Bill Panczner Collection and acquired in the 1970s or 1980s so this would be a very early specimen of Indian export, possibly from the original Jewel Tunnel itself. Bill was the first Curator of Earth Science at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in 1974 and the author of the 1987 book Minerals of Mexico. It is the most thorough summary of the subject.
