Item Description

This colorful and aesthetic large cabinet specimen is composed of multiple intergrown crystals of both fluorapophyllite and stilbite. I really like the way the fluorapophyllite crystals stand out between the stilbites. The fluorapophyllites are lustrous and translucent, bicolored white and mint-green. The dominant crystal is 4.6 cm across. The pearlescent, light pink stilbites reach 5.5 cm long. These crystals are, unusually, a more intense green color when viewed side-on (and those sides are extremely sharp and lustrous!). The pastel-pink needle quartz covering the basalt matrix is a nice contrast. The periphery wear on the right side is certainly only a modest detraction to this showy and excellent large combination. From the January, 2014 pocket.
