Item Description

A really beautiful and oddly colored specimen of Fluorapophyllite from India. Typically we are used to seeing prismatic, gemmy, green crystals, but this one is notably pink or pinkish-orange in color. It is beautifully contrasting against the blue Quartz / Chalcedony background sitting on the dark basalt matrix. The main crystal measures 4.3 cm on edge, which is very good sized for any Apophyllite crystal. It's actually colorless in areas, but you can see the almost directional inclusions of the unknown material that give it the beautiful warm internal color. The Apophyllite crystal is sharp, lustrous, well-formed and damage free, save one tiny imperfection along the base of the piece where it was detached from the pocket wall. I love that the piece sits on its own without the aid of a base or clay. Valued at $3,500. From the worldwide collection of Robert Nowakowski (#RN192 can be seen painted on the bottom of the specimen).
