Item Description
The Fluorapophyllite-(K) crystals from various Indian localities are certainly the finest examples of the species ever found. Many of them are colored green, typically due to minor vanadium content, but this piece has a much more saturated blue-green hue due to inclusions of the Mica mineral, Celadonite. Dozens of well-formed, thick tabular crystals measuring up to 1.3 cm on edge can be seen on both sides of the piece. When backlit, you can see that the Celadonite did not fully include all of the crystals, as many of them are notably colorless in areas. There is no matrix to speak of, and the piece is nearly a complete "floater", as it's crystallized nearly all over, with only a small point of attachment on one edge where it grew on the pocket wall. Scattered white blades of Stilbite-Ca can be seen for a nice touch. Very attractive in person, and frankly it's just different from most other Apophyllites you'll find from India. Valued $950.
