Item Description
An aesthetic and simply pretty display specimen from the Deccan Trap in India featuring a highly lustrous, sharp, well-formed, single crystal of Fluorapophyllite-(K) measuring 2.2 cm on edge perfectly centered on a bed of white cryptocrystalline Chalcedony on basalt matrix. The Apophyllite crystal has a distinctive "striped" appearance with a light yellow-green band of color sandwiched in between colorless zones of the exterior of the crystal. The Apophyllite crystal is damage-free as far as I can see with the naked eye, and it's positioned wonderfully in the middle of the matrix, I will point out that various zeolites and associated minerals from India do not get enough credit for largely being the finest crystallized examples of their respective species extant, and pieces like this are a great example of said material. This particular specimen is actually from an older find, dating back to the early 2000s.
