Fluorapophyllite-(K) (RICH color)

In virtually all other world localities where Fluorapophyllite-(K) has been found, the crystals are most often white or colorless. The vast majority of the specimens from the Deccan Trap in India however show at least a hint of a green hue (due to the presence of vanadium), and sometimes the color is so saturated, that it creates an almost blue-green shade. This piece has wonderfully rich blue-green colored crystals of Fluorapophyllite-(K) with excellent smooth, sharp lustrous faces and superb gemminess, bordering on WATER CLEAR in areas, associated with minor pinkish Heulandite-(Ca) and cream colored Stilbite-(Ca). The Fluorapophyllite crystals aren't terribly large, which is noteworthy considering how their color is so saturated. Typically the smaller crystals are lighter in color, but these are certainly an exception to the rule. Overall the piece is in fairly good condition, though there is some roughness around the edges, and the piece has been sawn to allow it to stand up on its own without the aid of a base or clay. It's certainly eye-catching, as this particular hue is almost unique to these Apophyllite crystals, and you would be hard-pressed to find another gem mineral species with this color, even most Phosphophyllite crystals aren't this saturated.
