Fluorapophyllite-(K) on Stilbite-Ca

Item Description

This showy small cabinet specimen features a classic association from Jalgaon with a beautiful "burst" of gemmy, green Fluorapophyllite-(K) crystals measuring 3.3 cm across, sitting on "sword"-shaped crystals of soft beige colored Stilbite-(Ca), on matrix . This one comes from an older find at Jalgaon, circa early 1990s. No major damage, and just a pretty combo of these well-known minerals from this prolific mineral-producing locality. It should be noted that Apophyllite crystals (regardless of species) are often white/colorless, and while the green hue from India is well-known, it's still rare for Apophyllite in general. This green hue is caused by vanadium content within the Apophyllite crystals, the same chromophore that gives the Indian Cavansite and Pentagonite crystals their intense blue color.
